Pendleton Woolen Mills traces back to 1863, when English weaver Thomas Kay began making woolen goods in Oregon, and the Kay and Bishop families have run it since. Based in Portland, it still operates its own mills in Pendleton, Oregon and Washougal, Washington, where wool is spun, dyed and woven.
